Ways to improve your Car Radio Reception
Is your manual antenna mast pushed in?
There are a lot of ways that a manual antenna mast can end up pushed in, like if a mechanic forgot to pull it back out, or maybe a crow decided to perch on it. Whatever the case, if you have a retractable mast and your reception has been weak lately it’s worth checking this first.
Is your antenna poorly connected?
One of the most common causes of poor car radio reception is a poor antenna connection. If the antenna cable is poorly seated in your head unit, or any of the links are loose, worn, or corroded, you’ll often find it challenging to tune into your favourite station.
Do you need a replacement?
If the above two options don’t work after trying and testing them, then get your antenna replaced. That may be the best and most stress-free option for anyone to experience difficulty in this area.
Get a signal booster:
Signal boosters won’t be a cure-all aid for this issue however if you have the situation where you’re getting a signal for stations, but it’s weak a signal booster can help strengthen this.
Get a new head unit:
If you’ve tried all of the above, then it’s time to go for a new head unit. Sometimes it won’t even set you back too much to do this as the technology in head units has advanced so much in the last few years that it easily outranks the domestic radio.
